Daryl's Last Gifts

Faced with the heartbreaking knowledge that Daryl was not going to be able to regain conciousness and that he was clinically without brain activity, the Kresnik's faced a decision few of us can begin to imagine. Should they allow Daryl's organs to be donated?

The heroic and giving spirit within them, and Daryl's love for people helped them to decide the answer; a resounding yes. By clicking the links below you can read letters from the donor organizations that helped to make sure Daryl's organs were given to people in desperate need, and also a response from one of the recipients of one of Daryl's kidneys.

It is Mary's wish that I share these letters and links with you all to help raise awareness of what organ donation can do. It is a very difficult choice to make, but a very generous and loving one which helps not only the recipients but can also be a comfort to a grieving family, as it was to the Kresnik's.

Please note that to protect privacy of the family and also the people involved that I have edited out names and other identifying factors from the original letters. These letters were provided to me by Mary Kresnik and appear on this website with her explicit permission and may not be copied, reproduced, or linked to any other websites without permission of the family. To request permission, email me and your request will be forwarded to the family. ~Ro
